The Yamaha and Crypton Partnership is BACK!!

Hello, everyone, from the early morning of August 1st, 2024. I was just scrolling through Twitter just a couple of minutes ago, and this popped up in my feed:

Announcement Tweet from Yamaha’s Official VOCALOID Account, along with SonicWire (Crypton Future Media) – Translated

THIS is HUGE news! For historical context, back on Miku’s 12th birthday (August 3`1st, 2019), Crypton Future Media announced that they were somewhat severing their tie with Yamaha and VOCALOID and they were going to create their own software to *somewhat* compete with VOCALOID, which became Piapro Studio. This new software would host Hatsune Miku NT, a new voice pack, and any new voice pack released by Crypton Future Media after the announcement.

Announcement from Crypton on August 31st, 2019 (Translated and from the Wayback Machine)

This was very upsetting since the community very much considered CFM’s characters VOCALOIDs. But that didn’t matter. They moved to Piapro Studio, and the last Miku release for VOCALOID was V4X in 2016—until now!

All I have to say is this: CONGRATS, CRYPTON, AND YAMAHA! THIS WAS A PARTNERSHIP THAT NEEDED TO BE RESTORED!

CONGRATS MIKU! WELCOME BACK TO VOCALOID!

That is all, folks! Studio 39 is signing off!

P.S. After a decent night’s sleep, I will update Hatsune Miku and VOCALOID: The History Behind the DIVA with the new information. Just give it time, please! 😉
